In the fall of 2007, an idea hit me that I should start painting...not in the ordinary way...my idea was to select a piece of music and play to it as I would on my drums using my sticks or brushes to apply acrylic paint on canvas.
Well, a year later I have been active at producing said paintings and have plans for many more. I call these LatentRhythms, as they are the normally unseen patterns that occur when a drummer plays. It is interesting that this is a truly different type of multimedia—a process that normally produces sound, in this case produces a visual. I usually choose a piece of music that means something personally to me, one that I know inside out.
Below are a few examples of my work, plus the news story that aired about me & latentrhythms. To learn more about LatentRhythms, please visit my website, www.latentrhythms.com.
